Learning riding practically is of course the main and considerable part of the sport of horses. On the other hand it is also useful to learn the theory aspect to gain a better understanding of the mechanics. For example learning the different gaits of the horse i.e walk, trot, canter and gallop with the leg sequences of each and much more! Also learning the stable management side i.e how to groom correctly, feeding and how to tack up etc. A series of practical and theory lectures have been held at Shakhoora Riding Centre which have suited both beginners and more advanced riders. I have helped riders who have wanted to start taking the British Horse Society exams part of which include the stable management side for each gradually advancing level. Just recently a lecture was given on feeding giving a more in depth insight into the actual digestive system of the horse, feeding the different ages as well as the problems that can occur.
